WHAT IT IS:
The Synergistic Research Ethernet Switch UEF Mk II is the second generation of SR's audiophile Ethernet switch. It sits between your router and your streamer, server, or other network audio gear, and conditions the network signal on its way to your system.
WHAT'S NEW IN THE MK II:
According to Synergistic Research, the Mk II borrows technology first developed for SR's flagship Voodoo server and $65,000 PowerCell SRX line conditioner:
- New Electromagnetic Cells for signal filtration.
- Ultra-Low Frequency (ULF) biasing, which SR says replaces high-frequency noise with harmonics of the Earth's Schumann Resonance. This is the first time SR has built ULF into its switch.
- SR's latest linear power supply.
Compared with the original Ethernet Switch UEF, SR reports a noticeably wider soundstage, higher resolution and better tonal accuracy, with more authoritative bass and more extended treble.
SETUP NOTES:
- Connect the switch between your router (ideally an SR Network Router UEF) and your audio components.
- A direct ground connection port lets you star-ground the switch to an SR Ground Block for an even lower noise floor.
